CHILDREN’S HOUSE: 2.9 TO 6 YEARS
Summer Sessions at NMS offers four 2-week sessions for Toddler House aged children (18 months to 2.8 years) and Children’s House aged children (2.9-6 years). Each session offers play based curriculum developed around a different theme and offers experiences in art, music, imaginative play, and outdoor activities.

This theme encourages children to understand the significance of their surroundings and promotes a sense of belonging, community engagement, and social responsibility through active participation and imaginative play.

BACKYARD EXPLORERS

Discovering the wonders waiting just outside our door! Children will investigate nature through hands-on experiences such as observing insects, exploring plants, backyard camping, and using their senses to learn about the world around them.
Through outdoor play, simple science activities, sensory exploration, and nature-inspired art, children will develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for the environment. Our backyard becomes a place for adventure as we search for treasures, build with natural materials, listen to birds, and explore the textures, colors, and sounds of nature.
This theme encourages children to observe, explore, and wonder—turning everyday outdoor moments into meaningful learning experiences.

SESSION 2
JUNE 29 - JULY 10TH (CLOSED JULY 3RD)
I’M A GARDENER & A BEEKEEPER

Children will explore how plants grow and how bees help our world. As little gardeners, children will dig in soil, plant seeds, water plants, and observe how sunlight, water, and care help things grow. They’ll learn about roots, stems, flowers, and the simple life cycle of a plant through hands-on activities and nature play.
As beekeepers-in-training, children will discover the important role bees play in helping plants and flowers. Through pretend play, stories, and safe, kid-friendly activities, children will learn how bees make honey, what a hive looks like, and how bees help our gardens grow. We’ll explore bee behavior, taste honey, create honeycomb-inspired art, and practice gentle respect for all living things.
This theme encourages curiosity, responsibility, and environmental awareness as children learn that they, too, can help care for plants, animals, and the world around them.

AROUND THE WORLD

While embarking on an exciting journey ‘Around the World’, children will explore different countries and cultures through hands-on activities, stories, music, art, and sensory play. We will learn about landmarks, foods, traditions, and animals from each region while celebrating the diversity of people around the globe. By the end of our summer adventures, children will have built a greater appreciation for the world around them and the many people who call it home.

SESSION 4
AUGUST 3 - AUGUST 14TH
SPACE EXPLORER

Children will blast off into a world of imagination as they learn about the sun, moon, stars, and planets. Through hands-on play and discovery, preschoolers will explore what astronauts do, build rockets, create constellations, and learn simple facts about outer space in developmentally appropriate ways.
Children will engage in sensory play with “moon sand,” pretend to float like astronauts, explore light and shadows, and create art inspired by galaxies and planets. We’ll read stories about space, count stars, explore shapes and colors in the night sky, and imagine what it might be like to travel to the moon.
This theme sparks curiosity, creativity, and early science thinking as children explore the wonders of our universe—one little step at a time.
