The Newburyport Montessori Parent Association is committed to supporting the school, the teachers, and the children they serve. We are a group of volunteers who believe that greater parent involvement enriches the educational experience of everyone and highlights the Montessori philosophy of responsibility and independence.
Our community extends beyond the walls of our classrooms. We believe it is important for children and families in our NMS community to recognize the needs of those in our greater community.
Each month the Parent Association organizes a drive to support specific needs of local non-profits. Drives include: winter clothing, food, diapers, and pajamas.
The Parent Association coordinates and manages Parent Representatives for each classroom. Parent Representatives support classroom needs and facilitate communication between teachers and parents.
We also coordinate an annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon to show our gratitude for the wonderful staff at NMS.
We coordinate free events throughout the school year. Events include annual parent socials, family socials, and weekend outings in both the fall and the spring. These events allow students and their families to learn and play together.
We build relationships and garner support from local businesses, along with school-wide creative fundraisers, to support the Parent Association’s events.
All parents are welcome and encouraged to be part of the Parent Association team! We meet the first Wednesday of every month, alternating between morning and evening times (9:15am, 7pm). Please come and help support our wonderful school.
