Bringing Montessori Home

Parents and other caregivers are invited several times during the school year to join in conversations about a variety of issues facing families.  Families who choose our school often tell us they have done so because our philosophy and values reflect their own.  More and more families are struggling to offer their children a world that is truly child-friendly – rich in opportunities for creative play, exploration and individual growth.  Establishing a nurturing, peaceful, happy and respectful home environment is a goal consistently embraced by NMS families.  As educators, we are acutely aware that parenting is, arguably, the most important, challenging and undervalued role that exists. Our discussions, lead by Sharon Wintner, our Educational Director, provide a forum for parents and caregivers to support one another as we all strive to do the best job we can while enjoying ourselves and our children.

Topics have included: The Parenting Role; Creating a Home Environment the Fosters Self-Reliance and Independence; Discipline; Keeping Our Children Safe AND Fostering independence; The Importance of Imaginative and Creative Play; Protecting Children From a Consumer Culture.
